About the show

Do you remember the 2000s?

We don't*.

So to remind ourselves we created a spreadsheet of every. single. record. Which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 songs and the Billboard Top 200 Records between 1999 and 2013 and is tagged on RateYourMusic as either Pop Punk or Emo Pop.

Gotta Get Out of This Town is a podcast retrospective where we listen to all of those record chronologically. Because we have very poor judgment in making life choices.

* Fletcher does, but he's old, and won't for much longer.

  • Episode 33: Simple Plan - No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls

    13 April 2021  |  Season 4  |  1 hr 13 mins
2002, charting singles, punk, simple plan

This week we talk about Simple Plan and I'm too sleepy to come up with a more clever description.

  • Episode 32: Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends

    5 April 2021  |  Season 4  |  1 hr 17 mins
    2002, emo, taking back sunday

This week we ruin Elaine's nostalgic memories of listening to Tell All Your Friends by reading what Taking Back Sunday is actually singing in that record.

  • Episode 31: Finch - What it Is To Burn

    29 March 2021  |  Season 4  |  1 hr 15 mins
    2002, emo, finch

This week when the house lights go all dark, we shuffle on down to the trash of 2001 emo-pop and dig like possums to find... Finch! We did not, in fact, get stuck in the intake vent, but at least one third of the hosts enjoyed this album, so that's also good.

  • Episode 30: Bad Religion - The Process of Belief

    15 March 2021  |  Season 4  |  1 hr 25 mins
    2002, bad religion, punk

This week we listen to one of Fletcher's favorite artists... American Life-era Madonna. We also talk about The Process of Belief by Bad Religion though.
